Earlier this month, Bluzelle announced the release of Bluzelle bridge, the first automated ETH to Cosmos relayer in production, which has been publicised via diverse media. However, some persons are still yet to catch good understanding of the product. In this article, I will enlighten you broadly about the Bluzelle Bridge. Happy reading!

The Bluzelle Bridge is the first automated ETH to Cosmos Relayer ever used in a live production environ. The relayer is fully compatible with the latest version of Tendermint/Cosmos. It has been deployed to the Bluzelle soft Mannet, thereby enabling conversion from ERC20 to the native tokens within minutes with full automation.

The Essence of Bluzelle Bridge

Bluzelle has a dual-token system. Other than the Bluzelle chain which is based on Cosmos, the ability for ERC20 BLZ tokens to be exchanged with others needs to be retained. There have to be an intermediary that enables security and stability for the automatic conversion of tokens between both networks.

However, there are limited tools available that are too early-staged. The most appropriate “off-the-shell” option — Peggy was tested. Absence of stability and compatibility flags it unsafe and therefore not production ready as at the time the Bluzelle Bridge was released. With the anticipated mainnet schedule, a relayer which is set for production and capable of supporting millions of transactions across Ethereum and the Bluzelle chain is required.

With more chain being built on Cosmos, severe blockchains need to undergo token swaps. It has always been a manual process that requires hectic clarifications with high chance of errors.

The need for a relayer service that has the ability to connect both ecosystem is essential in order to enable movement in both directions. These are the reasons why the Bluzelle Bridge was invented.

How Bluzelle Bridge Works

The following diagramatic representations showcase the user flow of the conversion between the ERC20 BLZ and the native BNT tokens.

Features of Bluzelle Bridge

  • Bi-directional: The Bluzelle Bridge performs exchanges between ERC20 BLZ to the BNT native token and vice versa (based on Cosmos). With this, Bluzelle network can remain in both Ethereum and Cosmos ecosystems, thereby transactions can cross both networks. Users can swap token at their will time.
  • Fully Automated: Bluzelle Bridge doesn’t rely on any manual rescue. As soon a a request is submitted by a user, the whole process gets fully automated and tokens will be received within few minutes.
  • Stable and Secure: The relayer is fully set for production use. It was deployed to the Bluzelle soft Mainnet and is successfully taking care of the numerous staking transactions in the system.
  • Compatible with the latest version of Tendermint/Cosmos: This is of great importance, Bluzelle is the first chain to make use of their latest version.

Next Steps

The soft Mainnet is a great test field for the Bluzelle Bridge as more and more people are participating in the staking program. Automatic conversion from BLZ to BNT is currently open, conversion from BNT back to BLZ will be carefully opened during transition to production Mainnet.

The relayer is a core component in the Cosmos ecosystem. Bluzelle will keep iterating the relayer on the basis of more extensive testing and feedback from the developers community. The team intends to open it up for the the whole Cosmos ecosystem to adopt the Bluzelle Bridge in a way that is more mature.

About Bluzelle

Bluzelle is powered by a byzantine fault-tolerant cluster of blockchains that is customized specifically for database operations. Bluzelle is a decentralized database for Web3. It possess an advanced data delivery network which is capable of protecting business from data breaches, network failure and and performance dilemma. Bluzelle efficiently serves as an “Airbnb of databases,” as developers pay for storage space and read/write in the decentralized database
